Stan has practiced labor and employment law for almost 28 years.

Stan grew up in Murphy, North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he graduated in 1992. Stan then attended the University of North Carolina School of Law and graduated in 1995. He began his law practice with Ogletree Deakins in 1995 and later moved to Littler Mendelson in 1998, where be became a shareholder and was instrumental in opening Littler's Charlotte office. In 2007, Stan joined Duke Energy as the company's chief labor counsel and later transitioned into an executive role in Human Resources, where he led the company's labor and employee relations function.
